PM Modi Wildlife Centre at Vantara – Grand Inauguration & Tour
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the PM Modi Wildlife Centre Vantara in Gujarat, a world-class wildlife rescue, rehabilitation, and conservation facility. This massive sanctuary is home to over 150,000 rescued, endangered, and threatened animals from more than 2,000 species worldwide.
During his tour of PM Modi Wildlife Centre at Vantara, he explored various sections of the centre, interacted with rehabilitated animals, and observed cutting-edge veterinary care.
PM Modi Interacts with Rescued Animals
At the PM Modi Wildlife Centre at Vantara, the Prime Minister had the rare opportunity to interact with exotic animals. He fed and played with:
- White Lion Cubs – Born at the centre after their mother was rescued.
- Golden Tiger – A rare species he observed up close.
- Clouded Leopard Cubs & Caracal Cubs – Rescued and receiving care at the facility.
Advanced Wildlife Hospital & Rescue Operations
PM Modi visited the wildlife hospital at Vantara, equipped with:
✔ MRI & CT Scans – Used for diagnosing injuries.
✔ ICU & Emergency Care – Critical support for rescued animals.
✔ Specialized Departments – Wildlife anesthesia, cardiology, and more.
He observed a leopard undergoing life-saving surgery after being hit by a car and an Asiatic lion undergoing an MRI scan.
PM Modi’s Close Encounters with Wildlife
In a truly special moment, PM Modi Wildlife Centre at Vantara allowed the Prime Minister to get face-to-face with:
✅ Four Snow Tigers – Rescued from illegal captivity.
✅ Okapi & Orangutan – Rescued from mistreatment.
✅ One-Horned Rhino Calf – An orphan receiving special care.
He also saw crocodiles, zebras, tapirs, pythons, and even a two-headed snake.
India’s Largest Elephant Hospital & Conservation Efforts
PM Modi also toured the largest elephant hospital in the world, where elephants enjoy:
✅ Hydrotherapy Jacuzzis – To ease arthritis and improve mobility.
✅ Specialized Treatment – To ensure their well-being.
Before concluding his visit, PM Modi released rescued parrots back into the wild and interacted with doctors, veterinarians, and staff who care for the animals.

The inauguration of the PM Modi Wildlife Centre Vantara marks a major step in India’s commitment to wildlife conservation and animal welfare. With world-class facilities and expert care, the centre is set to become a global model for rescuing and rehabilitating endangered species.

Interaction With Golden Tiger
PM Modi had several close encounters with wild animals, including face-to-face interactions with a Golden Tiger, four Snow Tigers (rescued from a circus), a white lion, and a snow leopard. He also patted an Okapi, met chimpanzees that were previously kept as pets, played with an orangutan rescued from an overcrowded facility, and fed a giraffe and a rhino calf—an orphaned one-horned rhino whose mother had passed away at the centre.

He also saw a hippopotamus underwater, crocodiles, zebras, and observed a variety of species such as a large python, a unique two-headed snake, a two-headed turtle, a tapir, leopard cubs rescued from an agricultural field, giant otters, bongo (antelope), and seals. He also witnessed elephants enjoying their jacuzzi, part of a hydrotherapy program designed to alleviate arthritis and foot problems and enhance their mobility.
The Prime Minister also toured the Elephant Hospital, the largest of its kind in the world, and released rescued parrots back into the wild, according to Vantara’s statement.
In addition, he interacted with the doctors, staff, and workers who manage the various facilities at the centre.
