Nripendra Mishra, the principal Secretary of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has expressed his desire to step down. Modi, however, requested Mishra to continue his work for two more weeks. During this, Modi wishes Mishra the future. Mishra, a retired 1967 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, is currently the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister.
Mishra was inducted into the Modi team in 2014 after the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government came to power. He remained in Modi’s main team even after the NDA returned to power with an even greater majority in 2019.

He is so close to Modi that the Prime Minister himself took to Twitter to announce Mishra’s decision and praised his work.Modi tweeted, ‘After working diligently while serving the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) for five years, Shri Nripendra Mishra Ji will move into a new phase of his life. My best wishes for his future endeavors. ‘

He said in another tweet, ‘Mr. Nripendra Mishra is one of the most outstanding officers who have a great understanding of public policy and administration. When I was new to Delhi in 2014, he taught me a lot and his guidance was extremely valuable.Meanwhile another retired Indian Police Service (IPS) officer P.K. Sinha has been appointed as Special Officer (OSD) in the PMO.
