The prices of crude oil and natural gas futures have dropped, while mentha oil also saw a decline. The turnover in commodity futures amounted to ₹10,984.77 crore, and in commodity options, it was ₹72,491.8 crore. Gold and silver futures accounted for ₹7,499.89 crore in trading, with the bullion index, Bulldex, reaching 20,568 points.
India’s leading commodity derivatives exchange, MCX, recorded a total turnover of ₹83,495.19 crore across various commodity futures, options, and index futures. The turnover in commodity futures stood at ₹10,984.77 crore, while in commodity options, a notional turnover of ₹72,491.8 crore was recorded.
The March Bulldex futures opened at 20,650 points, touching a low of 20,490 points before closing 51 points higher at 20,568 points. In the precious metals segment, gold futures for April opened at ₹85,998 per 10 grams, hit a high of ₹86,372, and settled at ₹86,246 after a ₹236 increase. Meanwhile, silver futures saw a decline of ₹379, settling at ₹95,821 per kg.
In base metals, copper, zinc, and aluminum futures saw a decrease, with copper falling ₹1.35 to ₹864.15 per kg, zinc dropping ₹2.5 to ₹269.35 per kg, and aluminum down ₹2.25 to ₹262.1 per kg.
The energy segment witnessed ₹2,080.19 crore in trading, with crude oil futures for March seeing a slight decline of ₹14, settling at ₹6,134 per barrel. Natural gas futures dropped by ₹26.8, reaching ₹344.2 per mmBtu.
Agricultural commodities like mentha oil futures opened at ₹921 per kg, dropping ₹1.2 to ₹916.5 per kg. Cotton futures also experienced a ₹220 decline, trading at ₹54,200 per bale.
In open interest terms, gold futures recorded 17,864 lots, while silver futures saw 25,833 lots. In the energy segment, crude oil futures registered 4,040 lots, and natural gas futures recorded 22,055 lots.
